the food is so flavorful and yummy! the woman at the counter was so friendly and helpful trying to accommodate me because I don't eat meat, she even tried to offer me veggies she made for herself lol. you can tell they care about the quality of food and their customers, had an awesome experience

The definition of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant! The food here is delicious and they are always generous with the servings. The lady who serves you has great customer service and is very nice! The only thing is that they are cash only.

This is the definition of mom & pop! Business has been here for 17 years and they are still going strong. The sweet lady was pumpin out so much food leading up to us and 10 customers were all happy to wait for fresh food to come out. Portions are super generous and she even threw in a small portion of another dish for us to try because she wants us to come back. Such a genuine experience and we'll definitely be back! This place is cash only! ATM across the st. @76 gas station.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. No other Chinese place beats this place, great service the lady at the front is always welcoming. Food is so great too.

What a find!! This hole in the wall restaurant tucked into a strip mall just before the entrance to the 710 on 7th street (only a few blocks from the courthouse in downtown LB has classic Chinese dishes much like Panda Express. Growing up we would love to eat Chinese food like this...lots of food for crazy inexpensive amounts. A lot of Chinese restaurants follow this formula...but not many do it as well as Hong Kong Express. Coming here you can expect to get those massive portions for an almost ridiculously low price. You get your choice of lo mein, fried rice or 1/2 & 1/2. Then your choice of one, two or three entrees. Forgot to take a pic of the menu...i was too focused on the food lol...but one entree was around $7, $9 for two and $11 for three. Such a great deal! The food was very fresh. If you opt for one of the terriyaki chicken entrees they actually take it out whole and slice to order locking in the flvor and juiciness. The owner working in the front is THE nicest lady. Even though they were quite busy at lunchtime on a Monday she took the time to answer our questions thoughtfully and chat about how long the business has been there amoungst other things. We won't hesitate to go back again and again!!

Very reliable food offered for Americanized Chinese food. Similar to Panda Express Model: 8 or so different premade dishes kept somewhat warm in chafing dishes, you point to what you want and they will package it for you. I've been here 4 times now, the dishes seem to be the same (based on best sellers I would guess). Mostly chicken dishes, fried rice, veggie lo-mein, egg rolls. Be aware that towards the end of the day, they will stop making new food so they minimize the food to be thrownaway....so your choices will be more limited. Recommendation and best deal: get the 3 item plate for around $11, teriyaki grilled chicken (whole charred chicken breasts, cut up into strips fresh when ordered...which i luv), broccoli beef is good (sauce is not too starchy, and the broccoli is cooked perfectly), kung-pao chicken (what you would expect). You get either fried rice or lo-mein (or half/half). They are no different than other chinese food places that serve pre-prepared orange chicken/general tsao's chicken...unless it's just freshly made, it will get soggy/gummy as it sits on the heating trays...plus the chicken pieces are not great (bought frozen from a distributor, I think). Everything is packaged as if to-go, but you can take it and eat it on-site....they have a few tables inside. It is part of a half-empty strip mall, so plenty of parking. Cash only - closed on Wednesday. Really nice and talkative owner/front of staff, and she is really generous with the portions (the 3 item plate is more than enough for the two of us). Selection is small, but that's what they do to keep the food fresh(er) and prices low.

I haven't tasted the food yet. But I can tell that food is cooked well and done traditionally. However the customer service is amazing. The lady at the register put the biggest smile on my face just with her energy. I needed that. Def my new Chinese food spot on Long Beach!

I came here looking for a simple Chinese food takeout experience and that's what I received. This place is cash only but don't let that from trying this place out. I understand that it may not look like the fanciest. Nor is it a restaurant that seats many. However, anyone looking for Chinese food like this always basis their experience on how the half rice and half chow mein is. Personally, i loved it! It was super toasty and the chow mein was the same but was thick enough that I consider it good! I got the spicy chicken teriyaki and it went well with my plate. I had a combo A for lunch and it was enough food. The combos come with free drinks or a roll. Parking right out front. The lady that served me was friendly too. My experience here was simple yet was straight to the point when filling me up. I recommend you try this place out if you're in the mood for Chinese takeout.
